When your chest feels tight before family dinners. When you replay conversations for hours. When everyone thinks you're fine, but you're not.
Discover why opening up feels difficult and how to overcome emotional barriers.
Opening up isn’t simple—it requires safety, trust, and emotional awareness that many of us were never given the space to develop.
Our F.A.Q. is designed to help clients find answers to our most common questions. If you do not find the answer you are looking for please contact us
Sukoon Cares offers therapy, nutrition, and wellness services designed to support your holistic well-being:
Therapy: Provided by Psychotherapists, Social Workers, and/or Psychologists, all trained in Culturally Adapted Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CaCBT).
Nutrition: Delivered by Registered Dietitians and Nutritionists, with plans that include South Asian dishes tailored to your health goals and lifestyle.
Our therapists are equipped to support a wide range of experiences common within our community. Whether navigating anxiety, low mood, burnout, family or relationship dynamics, processing trauma, or the weight of identity and life transitions, our approach ensures the care provided is grounded in both clinical evidence and cultural understanding.
Finding the right fit is important. There are two ways to connect with care at Sukoon.
Browse and Connect: View our practitioner profiles and use the filters to find someone whose focus aligns with what's being held. We offer free 15-minute connection calls to ensure the space feels right before committing to a full session.
Let Us Guide You: Not sure where to start? Reach out to our team via email or phone. We take the time to understand what's being looked for and typically help find the right care within 2 hours.
Finding the right connection can take time, and that's completely okay. If a practitioner doesn't feel aligned after a few sessions, other options within Sukoon can always be explored. Our team is available to help guide this process and recommend alternatives without any awkwardness or extra hurdles.
A South Asian therapist often brings an understanding of cultural context, including family dynamics, community expectations, faith, and migration experiences, without needing a lengthy explanation. This shared cultural awareness can help therapy begin at a deeper level, allowing the focus to remain on the experience rather than translating a background. At Sukoon, our therapists combine evidence based care with cultural understanding to create a space that feels respectful, familiar, and grounded in lived experience.
Culturally Adapted Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CaCBT) integrates cultural context into traditional CBT methods to make therapy more relevant and effective. At Sukoon, all our therapists undergo specialized training in CaCBT to ensure your therapy is sensitive to cultural values and traditions.
Sukoon provides care through a secure online platform, allowing us to connect with the South Asian diaspora across Canada. We find this virtual space offers a unique comfort, settling in from the privacy of home, perhaps with a warm cup of chai nearby.
We understand that schedules can be demanding. Many of our practitioners offer availability outside of standard hours, including evenings and weekends. Live availability is always shown on our booking page.
Our nutritionists and dietitians create personalized dietary plans that include South Asian dishes and ingredients, tailored to suit your lifestyle, health goals, and dietary needs.
Standard sessions are 50 minutes in duration. You also have the option of booking extended sessions lasting 75 minutes. To ensure your first session is utilized effectively, please complete the assessment form and submit any required consent forms prior to your appointment.
The number of sessions required varies greatly depending on individual needs and goals. Factors such as the complexity of your concerns and the desired outcomes will influence the duration of therapy. We recommend continuing therapy as long as you and your therapist feel it is beneficial and contributing positively to your well-being.
Our services are covered by most major insurance companies. We do not directly bill insurance providers at this time. After each session, an insurance-ready receipt is provided automatically via email for easy submission to a provider.
If there is any uncertainty about coverage details, our team is happy to help clarify benefits before we begin.
While Sukoon Cares was founded with the intention of providing a safe, culturally attuned space for the South Asian diaspora, our doors are open to everyone. Anyone who values an approach to care that honours cultural context, family values, and holistic well-being is welcome here.
To ensure our practitioners can offer times to others in need, we ask for a minimum of 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. Missed appointments or late cancellations may be subject to the full session fee. We appreciate the understanding in helping us manage our shared time respectfully. To reschedule or cancel, please contact us via phone or email.
Your safety and security are our top priorities. We are fully compliant with PHIPA and PIPEDA. Sukoon utilizes the Jane App, a secure third-party telehealth platform, for all online therapy sessions and to securely store all client information.
