Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

RPQ

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). My approach is culturally responsive and trauma-informed. Depending on your needs, I integrate somatic approaches, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, culturally adapted Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Internal Family Systems.

I was drawn to counselling after seeing how difficult it can be for Muslim and South Asian people to find a therapist who understands what it means to navigate two different worlds.

In our communities, therapy can still feel unfamiliar or taboo. You may know that you need support but feel unsure where to begin, how to explain what you are experiencing, or whether someone will truly understand the cultural and family dynamics shaping your life.

As a first-generation immigrant, I understand the delicate balance between tradition and individuality. I know how it can feel to carry family expectations while trying to figure out who you are, what you want, and which parts of your life you are allowed to choose for yourself.

You may be managing anxiety, burnout, emotional overwhelm, or the weight of intergenerational expectations. You may feel caught between respecting your family and protecting your own well-being. Even setting a boundary can bring up guilt or the fear of “log kya kahenge,” meaning “What will people say?”

I offer a place where you do not have to separate your culture, faith, and mental health from one another. We can explore how these parts of your identity shape your experiences without treating them as problems that need to be explained away.

Therapy does not require you to arrive with the right words or a clear understanding of what is wrong. We can begin with what feels most present and make sense of it together, one layer at a time.

I have a particular interest in supporting people through fertility challenges, pregnancy, birth trauma, parenting, and the emotional transitions that can accompany the perinatal period. These experiences can bring grief, fear, pressure, exhaustion, and changes in identity that are not always openly discussed.

I also work with individuals navigating ADHD, trauma, parenting concerns, education and learning disabilities, and issues affecting women. My background in education has given me more than 10 years of experience understanding how learning, emotional well-being, family dynamics, and identity can overlap.

I support neurodivergent individuals and work from a sex-positive lens. I am also an ally to LGBTQ2S+ communities.

I provide therapy in English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi.
