I got into this work because I know what it’s like to sit between two worlds and feel responsible for holding both together. Growing up navigating life between my family’s roots in Pakistan and the world I was building here in Canada, I learned early what it means to carry expectations from home while trying to make sense of systems, and a culture, that weren’t built with your family in mind. That bridging experience is at the center of how I show up for clients, whether or not our backgrounds match.
Over the past decade, I’ve worked in some of the most acute, high-stakes moments a person can go through, crisis intervention, de-escalation, safety planning, and immediate on-site support for people in the middle of a psychological or psychosocial emergency. I’ve also spent just as much time in the quieter, ongoing work: individual and family therapy, helping people move through anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and the kind of life transitions that don’t announce themselves as crises but feel just as disorienting from the inside.
If you’re reading this because things have started to feel unmanageable, because you’re in the middle of a crisis, a spiral, a relationship that’s breaking down, or a habit you can’t seem to shake, I want you to know that’s exactly the kind of moment I’m trained to sit in with you, without panic, without judgment, and without needing you to have it figured out first. And if you’re here because you’ve been quietly carrying the weight of two cultures, translating not just language but entire ways of seeing family, duty, and self, I understand that specific kind of exhaustion too.
My approach draws on CBT, DBT-informed strategies, solution-focused therapy, and family systems work, but underneath all of that is a commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed care. I don’t ask you to leave your family, your faith, or your culture at the door to be understood. I want to understand how those things already shape your strength, even in the moments they also feel like the source of the pressure.
Whether you’re a student overwhelmed by academic stress, a family navigating conflict, or someone in acute distress right now, my goal is the same: to meet you exactly where you are, and help you find your way to steadier ground.
