I believe every person already carries their own light and their own inner compass, even when years of conditioning have made it hard to hear. Therapy, to me, isn’t about fixing you. It’s about helping you find your way back to who you already are.

I am a first-generation immigrant from India who has called Canada home for the past seven years, and my work draws on over 15 years across international development, public health advocacy with organisations like UNICEF, and clinical psychotherapy here in Canada. That path has shaped an approach that blends the clinical structure of Western psychology with Eastern mind-body wisdom.

I know what it means to rebuild a life from scratch, to carry the quiet grief of people and places left behind, and to feel the pull of “log kya kahenge” (the fear of what people will think) so strongly that a simple boundary can feel like betrayal.

Many of my clients are holding similar weight: the “Raja Beta” pattern where sons are never expected to share the load, the guilt of prioritising their own needs, or the quiet question of whether the sacrifices of immigration were worth it. You don’t have to over-explain any of this here, including your gender, faith or family structure. You just have to show up.

Traditional talk therapy lives in the analytical mind, but I believe ancestral trauma and cultural guilt live in the body. They can show up as “ghabrahat” (a racing unease), a tight chest, or a nervous system that won’t switch off.

My own experience as a therapy client taught me this. It often felt like I was stripping away layers while the other person in the room stayed fully clothed. That’s why I weave dance movement therapy and somatic work together with evidence-based clinical care. We won’t just talk about your anxiety. We’ll untangle it from your nervous system.

Whether you’re working through intergenerational trauma, reclaiming your vitality from burnout, or building healthier boundaries with the people you love, I believe we don’t heal in isolation, we heal in community. Together, through individual, couple or family work, we’ll build something that feels like a home away from home. Aaiye, aapka intezaar hai (come, I’m waiting for you).
