Client Testimonial

“I started noticing changes in my energy, sleep, and weight during menopause and wasn’t sure what was normal. My dietitian helped me adjust how I eat throughout the day, and those small changes made a noticeable difference. I feel much more in control of my health now.”

- Client 49

“I assumed I’d have to stop eating all the foods I grew up with. Instead, my dietitian helped me adjust portions and timing in a way that actually worked for my life. My energy is better, and eating feels a lot less stressful now.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Registered Dietitian services are covered by most extended health benefit plans. Sukoon does not directly bill insurance providers — after every session, an insurance-ready receipt is sent automatically by email for direct submission to a provider. If there is uncertainty about what a plan covers, our team can help clarify any questions.

Registered Dietitian services in private practice are not covered by OHIP. However, many extended health insurance plans do cover nutrition counselling provided by a Registered Dietitian, depending on your individual benefits plan. Sukoon Cares does not offer direct billing at this time. Clients will receive an insurance-friendly receipt by email immediately after each session, which can be submitted to their insurance provider for reimbursement. Coverage and reimbursement amounts vary by provider and plan, so clients are encouraged to contact their insurance company directly to confirm their coverage for Registered Dietitian services.

Registered Dietitians (RDs) are regulated health professionals with formal education and supervised training. We provide evidence-based medical nutrition therapy and are regulated by the College of Dietitians of Ontario, following strict ethical and privacy standards.

Your information is handled securely in accordance with PHIPA. During your session, we'll review your medical history, medications, dietary habits and diet. You'll leave with a personalized nutrition care plan and clear, practical next steps.

Registered Dietitian services are not covered by OHIP in Ontario. However, most private extended health benefit plans do include Registered Dietitian coverage. After every session, an insurance-ready receipt is provided automatically for submission to a private insurer. If cost is a concern, limited financial support is available — reach out to our team to discuss.

Yes — this is central to how our dietitians work, not an accommodation. South Asian cuisines, ingredients, and mealtimes are built into the planning from the start. Our dietitians understand that roti, dal, biryani, and chai are not obstacles to health — they are part of a food culture with genuine nutritional value. The goal is to work with what is already familiar, not replace it with something unrecognisable.

Yes. Our dietitians have experience supporting clients navigating PCOS, thyroid conditions, insulin resistance, and the hormonal changes of perimenopause and menopause. Nutrition has a meaningful role in managing symptoms and improving energy and wellbeing alongside medical care. Our approach works in coordination with existing medical treatment — it does not replace it.

No. Many of the people our dietitians work with do not have a diagnosis — they are navigating confusion about what to eat, inconsistent energy, digestive discomfort, or simply wanting to build more sustainable habits. Nutrition support is useful across a wide range of situations, from managing a chronic condition to getting clearer on what works for a particular body and life.

This depends on individual goals and circumstances. Many clients begin with an initial assessment, followed by a meal planning session to build a personalised framework. Ongoing check-in sessions every few weeks help maintain progress and adjust as life changes. Some people work with their dietitian for a few months; others continue longer-term. The pace is set collaboratively — there is no fixed programme.

Yes, and many clients find this combination particularly useful. The relationship between food, mood, and mental wellbeing is well-established — our gut-brain connection blog explores this in more detail. Practitioners across both services are part of the same team, which means care can be coordinated where it is helpful to do so.

Yes. Our sessions are online, which means our dietitians can work with clients across Canada. If there is any question about eligibility by province, our team is happy to confirm before a first appointment is booked.
