Sheela is a Registered Dietitian and Diabetes Educator with over 25 years of experience in various settings both clinical and community based. She has a special interest in chronic disease management, especially prediabetes, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases (blood pressure management, high cholesterol, etc). However, her passion is in disease prevention by helping clients manage their health conditions before they become chronic issues. Sheela is a firm believer in reducing the risks of diet-related problems pre-emptively. She will help you be at your best health by nourishing your body and helping you achieve your personal goals.
Sheela’s approach to diet counselling is more than providing standardized meal plans. Each individual is unique, with unique requirements. Therefore sessions are personalized, taking into consideration a
person’s food habits, cultural background and values.
Having lived and practiced as a Registered Dietitian in India and the Middle East, before practicing in Canada for the past 14 years, Sheela is well aware of the specific needs of the South Asian expatriate and newcomer communities and is also very familiar with the different food habits and cuisines from all corners of the Indian subcontinent be it Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and all the varied diets and cultures in between. She has a working knowledge of the Tamil language.
